IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR

Dear Friends, Colleagues, and Members:

I wanted to reach out to each of you during this time of unchartered territory. So many of us have been impacted personally and professionally by COVID-19. We have seen bare shelves in stores; our travel plans, events and meetings have been cancelled or postponed; our schools have been closed; and our daily routines have been dramatically shifted.

Below is important information from The Florida Bar regarding the recent Order from the Chief Justice of the Florida Supreme Court. Please contact your local courthouses for additional information.

There has been so much information shared to help guide us through this time, and we are all experiencing this learning curve together. Please do not hesitate to reach out to any member of the Family Law Section Executive Council and/or Executive Committee if you need support or if you have questions about your practice. Our contact information can be found HERE.

As we navigate through this challenging time, please be kind and patient with your fellow practitioners. We are in this together, and we will get through this together.

Sincerely,
Amy Hamlin
Chair of the Family Law Section

Important COVID-19 Announcement

This afternoon, Chief Justice Charles Canady issued an Administrative Order that will limit most face-to-face legal proceedings and suspend all grand jury proceedings, jury selection proceedings, and criminal and civil jury trials for a minimum of two weeks beginning Monday, March 16. The order authorizes local judges to use remote electronic means whenever possible and will be extended or modified as needed.

Clerks and trial court administrators are implementing the order and notifying all who have been called for jury service.

Please check the Bar’s COVID-19 Information and Resources web page for the latest court announcements and for updates on the status of Bar meetings, events and continuing legal education courses.
