Kristin Kirkner practices as a litigator, mediator and expert in Tampa at Kirkner Family Law Group, P.A., a boutique firm focused on family law and military family law. In 2014, Kristin earned a board certification in Marital and Family Law in the State of Florida. She has presented on military family law issues across the State of Florida, most notably at the AAML Marital & Family Law Certification Review course. Kristin has been accepted in the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit for the State of Florida as an expert in military divorces and division of military pensions.
Kristin has served the legal community in multiple capacities, first on the Hillsborough County Bar Association where she is a past chair of the HCBA Family Law Section, and also at the state level as an executive council member, legislation committee member and co-chair of the rules and forms committee for the Family Law Section of the Florida Bar.
Kristin has been selected for recognition by SuperLawyers in the area of family law since 2013, and maintains an AV Peer Review Rating from Martindale-Hubbell. Before opening Kirkner Family Law Group, Kristin was a partner at DeCort & Kirkner P.L., an associate attorney at the Law Office of Donald P. DeCort, P.A, and a staff attorney at Bay Area Legal Services.
Kristin grew up in Colorado Springs, Colorado moved to Florida in 2004 when her husband was stationed at MacDill Air Force base. Kristin is a proud reserve military spouse and the mother of two girls.
Chris Ragano practices exclusively in the areas of matrimonial and family law, including trial litigation in all areas of custody disputes and complex financial matters. Mr. Ragano received his Doctorate of Jurisprudence from South Texas College of Law and his Bachelor of Science from Florida State University. He is admitted to practice in the state of Florida and before the United States District Court, Middle District of Florida.
Attorney Chris E. Ragano is a member of the Florida Bar Family Law Section and the Hillsborough County Bar Association Family Law Section where he served as past Chair for the Family Law Section and the Family Law Executive Council Committee. He is also a past Chair of the Executive Committee for the Tampa Family Law Inns of Court.
Mr. Ragano is a frequent speaker and lecturer on contested family law litigation. He has previously lectured for The Florida Bar, the National Business Institute, the Hillsborough County Bar Association (Family Law Section) and Bay Area Legal Services. Such seminars include such topics as Advanced Trial Techniques, Admissibility of Electronic Evidence, Utilizing Expert Witnesses at Trial and Complex Child Custody litigation.
Chris E. Ragano has been featured in the Tampa Tribune discussing the effects of cyber-stalking in contested custody matters. He has written for the Hillsborough County Lawyer Magazine an article titled “The New Parenting Bill: No More Mud Slinging???”. This was the first article to discuss the new revisions to the Parenting Bill in Florida. Mr. Ragano provided an overview of how the new Parenting Bill differs from the previous child custody law. Following the release of this article, Mr. Ragano appeared two different times on the local news station Channel 10 to discuss the new Parenting Bill, as well as the recent custody cases that have been litigated under this new law.
As a testament to his craft, Mr. Ragano is the only attorney in the Tampa Bay area to speak at annual seminars geared towards training other practicing attorneys and psychologists on prosecuting and defending all forms of domestic violence injunctions. He is frequently retained by other law firms to step in and handle domestic violence proceedings for their clients. Mr. Ragano was invited to speak at an annual Domestic Violence Task Force Board Meeting to provide updated information on “cyber stalking” as well as domestic violence injunctions.
As a former Public Defender in the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit of Hillsborough County, Mr. Ragano has handled thousands of jury and non-jury trials. He was the lead attorney of the “Domestic Violence” unit. He had perfected his trial skills in this area so much that he was called upon to train other attorneys in the technique for successfully defending false allegations of domestic violence, child abuse, sexual abuse and stalking. Mr. Ragano has been a research consultant for the History Channel and A&E’s Biography Channel. He has appeared in several documentaries including “Mouthpiece Voice of the Accused”, “Declassified: Godfathers of Havana”, “Biography: Santo Trafficante” and “Mafia’s Greatest Hits”.
Mr. Ragano serves in the “of counsel” capacity for other law firms since 2015. In that capacity, Mr. Ragano is frequently called upon to handle litigated cases for other firms in the areas of child custody cases, complex financial matters, and all final hearings/trials.
